Students of semantics in Indonesia find it hard to read and understand
books on semantics which are written by famous experts in semantics,
like Geoffrey Leech, F.R. Palmer, Ruth Kempson, or Charles W. Kreidler.
As a result, they can only obtain a vague understanding of the
materials of semantics.
This fact inspires me to compile this
thin book on semantics. This book discusses The Scope of Semantics,
Approaches to the Study of Semantics, Word Meaning, Sentence Meaning,
and Utterance Meaning.
I do really hope that this book can inspire them to study language and semantics, especially the conceptual meaning
